Bus trips in and around Glasgow are served through the city's Buchanan Bus Station, which operates 24 hours a day. Inside is a comfortable waiting area, two automatic banking machines, a cafe and shops. Other services include a lost property and left luggage facilities, and the terminal is under security surveillance around the clock.
Glasgow's largest train station, the city's Central Station sees more than 34 million people pass through its doors every year. Originally opened in 1879, the station has a total of 16 platforms, 14 on the High Level, two on the Low Level. A glass and iron bridge known as the "Highlandman's Umbrella", a well-known landmark, takes pedestrians over Argyle Street, underneath which is located several shops, cafes and pubs.
